Dale Memorial United Methodist Church
Established 1894

The Reverend Samuel Dale organized Dale Methodist Episcopal Chapel. Rev. Dale was of the pioneer members for the former Delaware Conference, in 1864. This Conference was a product of slavery and discrimination of the Methodist Church was composed of three districts; The Delaware River District, The Odessa District and the Choptank District.
After Samuel Dale passed on, the name was changed to Dale Memorial Methodist Church. This was done during the pastorate of the Rev. Kershaw who received permission from the Delaware Conference. However, when the United Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren and became a new demonination in 1968 inclusive of all race and ethnicities, the name changed again. The new name was Dale Memorial United Methodist Church. Under the leadership of Rev. Donald Hamilton, Dale has been effective in providing spiritual needs to the community. Rev. Hamilton retired in July 2009. Our vision is to become a strong multicultural congregation that will be an example to the Middletown Community.
